ABOUT THERAPY
I have been in private practice for nearly twenty years, with a belief that therapy can be an invaluable opportunity to nurture personal growth and better understand one's life and experiences. I have an eclectic approach which may incorporate Relational Therapy, Insight Oriented Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. Each experience for the client begins with the development of our relationship and builds from there. Your growth and direction will be guided by you, and will be supported and enhanced by the trust in our relationship.
STARTING THERAPY
As a person who has entered into a therapist's office as a client, I fully understand it is a challenging endeavor. Sitting with a therapist for the first time can be uncomfortable and may evoke an initial feeling of vulnerability. I applaud you for taking the first step to consider therapy as a possibility. When the fit between client and therapist is good, the experience can be incredibly valuable. It is a gift to yourself to be able to dedicate time to processing your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in life. I am committed to fostering a relationship that is authentic, trustworthy, comfortable, and will guide you towards meeting your therapeutic goals.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
My therapy practice includes working with older adolescents and adults and I have extensive expertise that includes supporting issues which may relate to anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, grief, illness, care-giving, and relationship issues. Regardless of who walks into my office, I am humbled and grateful to bear witness to their life and be a part of this process.
PAYMENT
I am a Provider for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. For all other insurance, I am an "Out of Network Provider". Within this scenario, I ask that you pay me at the time of the session. I will then provide you with a receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
WHEN I AM NOT WORKING...
I am the proud and imperfect mother of a 19 year old son, and a 17 year old daughter. I enjoy running with my dog, photography, dancing, listening to music, eating delicious food with friends, and laughing with my husband...who is my high school sweet heart. We live in Portland, Maine and celebrate all this awesome city has to offer.
